Comments The 'F.J. Holden' has been described as an 'anti-quest' Road Movie, whereby the protagonists spend all of their time driving, yet never actually get out of the bounds of suburbia. However, as a social realist film, 'The F.J. Holden', nonetheless, is thorougly entertaining despite its seemingly depressing subject matter!

Synopsis Kevin is an apprentice motor mechanic living at home in the Western suburbs of Sydney.

He spends all of his spare time cruising around in an old beat up F.J. Holden with his best mate, ogling at girls.

Over a period of time, Kevin reconditions his car, transforming it into an impressive canary-yellow hot-rod which he drag races on Saturday nights against other local petrol-heads.

Kevin meets Anne, a girl who works at a fashion boutique at the local shopping centre, Bankstown Plaza.

The couple spend most of their time alternating between two activities; driving or having sex, with very little emphasis on conversation in their relationship.

One afternoon, Kevin and his mate visit Anne, and the couple become intimate in the bedroom. Anne is mortified to realise that whilst they are making love, Kevin is smiling at his best mate who is watching the proceedings from the living room. She throws both of the boys out of the house.

The two run into one another at a party, and Kevin, who has had too much to drink wants to talk to Anne, but she isn't interested. Kevin causes drunken a commotion at the party and is thrown out.

After driving aimlessly all night with his best mate and mourning the loss of Anne, Kevin arrives home in the morning to find the police awaiting him.
