An informative chapter, which is essentially a hotch-potch of reviews, critiques and anecdotes. |
Synopsis |
Evidently not understanding the conventions of either a musical nor a road movie, Eric Reade states; "..one of the main faults with Oz is that bursts of dialogue are broken up with scenic images accompanied by explosive music featuring obscure lyrics"(260)
Then, of 'The Cars that Ate Paris', he states the initial resistance toward the film, whereby "..at the Melbourne festival, the violent climax was hissed at by the audience"(214)
And, finally, of 'The F.J. Holden' he recounts how although it was a disaster at the theatres, it proved a success at drive-ins "...at the film's opening at the Chullora Drive-in all drivers of F.J. and F.X. Holden's were admitted free!"(302) |
