Title Smash! Bang! Crash! - Car Culture in Film.
Author(s)Julian Smith
Volume 2
Issue 2
Page Number 24 - 30
Comments In this article, Smith divulges at length the sheer multitude of 'car culture' - read road - movies of the late 70's, yet does not attempt to discover the ideology behind these films, or even why there is a demand for them. Instead, he sneers at their absence of plot.

While the article provides an insight into the number of road films producers such as Roger Corman churned out - with B-grade Road Films seemingly becoming a genre unto itself - overall the article is rather dull, primarily due to Smith's droll cynicism.
Synopsis
Smith goes to New World Pictures, the corporate projection of the legendary Roger Corman, "..America's foremost purveyor of primarily nonpornographic exploitation pictures"(p. 24), to investigate the then burgeoining 'car rodeo' stunt films of the late 1970's.
