Warwick Thornton has been involved in the Australian film industry in a variety of ways over the years, starting out as a cinematographer in 1998 working on a Tv documentary called "Marluku Wirlinyi: The Kangaroo Hunters" and since then, has been involved in 20 other projects performing that role, as well as 7 films he directed, as well as 4 he was a writer. By far his biggest hit came with the release of his first feature film "Samson and Delilah" in 2009 where he was both writer and director.
When speaking of the journey that the two main characters undertake in the film, Thornton says "If you go down the road with these two kids you really do need hope. Society needs hope. If it was like Romeo and Juliet and they both died, well, there is no step forward for the audience to believe there could be a brighter day."
Thornton married his partner Bec Cole, a relationship on which the film Samson and Delilah as loosely based.
