Passing Through is part of the 'Shifting Sands' compilation of short Indigenous films.
The Collection is produced in association with the Indigenous Branch of the Australian Film Commission and SBS Independent.
'Shifting Sands' is the continuation of the 'From Sand To Celluloid' collection which was released in 1996.
Passing Through was produced with financial assistance from the New South Whales Film and Television office. |
Synopsis |
An Aboriginal woman, Margie, takes her husband and two childen to visit her auntie in the country. They stop at a small town to refuel where she encounters two old men who claim to have known her grandfather. When she reachers her auntie's house she is informed that the two men had died years ago. When Margie returns to the town she is confronted with her Aboriginal heritage. The petrol station is completely rundown and a willy willy, which in Aboriginal mythology represents spirits of the dead, blows through the town. |
