The authors use the 'production house case study' to analyse the position and output of Kennedy-Miller Productions in an attempt to place a context-sensitive focus on the relation between modes of production (myth-making as cultural production, vision, textual inscription, production house disourse) and the climate of the Australian film and television industry in the 1980's. This chapter is a detailed account of the driving force behind Kennedy-Miller as institution, and its relationship to the industry as a whole. A very worthwhile chapter for those who wish to examine the conditions of production in Australia in the 1980's. In addition to this historical element, there is analysis which contributes to the reader's conception of the 'formula for success' so readily applied by Kennedy-Miller in the 1980's and continuing in the mode of production applied by the company in the 1990's, adding fuel to the concept of corporate authorship.
