This citation sees me referring to one sub-section of interest within this chapter. This is why I have not given the whole chapter's page details.
The section I refer to is titled: "Generational and Subcultural Cleavages."
The book as a whole is primarily dealing with national identity in Australian films but also examines Australian film industry issues.
This section of the book is entertaining and very well written. I enjoyed it for it's 'personalised' writting approach.
The book itself is quite easily retrievable being available at any major library (RMIT, STATE ETC). |
Synopsis |
Here, O'Regan cultivates the idea that whole generations foster a set of prescribed filmic expectations and/or phenomena. This, he believes, leads to the development and histories of styles and distinct 'knowable' generational cleavages.
O'Regan further asserts that Australian film is made up of various identities and exhibits many different tendencies common to any given phase (ie, Generation X, Baby Boomers). |
