Comments Sue Brooks says of the film on the road to Australian Film Commission website, "This is a story about fate and it tells an Australian story yet to be told on film. Country people are often portrayed either as hicks or wise old sages. These people are neither."
Synopsis Road to Nhill follows a series of events that transpires as the result of four lady bowlers crashing their car on the way home from a competition in a neighbouring town. No one is seriously injured, however panic engulfs the town of Nhill, and in the midst of chaos confusion overwhelms the men co-ordinating a rescue mission. Problems escalate as word spreads, misunderstandings couple with mistaken directions, and policemen aren’t where they’re supposed to be. The elderly husbands fret and search for their wives, but there were three carloads of bowlers, and no-one seems to know who was in the crash. The locals all try and help out, some of them driving out to Ten Mile in their crusty cars. In the end, everything is back to normal - almost.
