Comments Shifting Sands is the second Indigenous Drama Initiative established by Wal Saunders, Manager of the Indigenous Branch of the Australian Film Commission.

The first was produced in 1996 titled From Sand to Celluloid - New Works from Indigenous Filmmakers.

Shifting Sands is a collection of six short Indigenous films which are sponsored by the Australian Film Commission and SBS Independent. These films are produced in assistance with the State Film Agencies of NSW, Western Australia and Victoria.

Synopsis Shifting Sands is a collection of six short Indigenous films which represent the diversity of Aboriginal culture.
Issues addressed include: arranged marriages; class and spiritual differences between members of an Aboriginal family; two young lovers' different plans for the future; the spiritual beliefs of a young Aboriginal mother; and a young Albino girl's stuggle to come to terms with her identity.
