Comments |
Richard Franklin was born in Melbourne and attended Monash University. During the mid 1960s, Australia had no tertiary courses and so Franklin decided to pursue his interest of film in the U.S at the prestigious University of California.
It was at university that Franklin met his hero, Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock invited him on the set of one of his last films, Topaz, which left a lasting impression on him which is evident in his films.
When Franklin returned to Australia he worked as an assistant director on the police series Homicide, where he met long time collaborator Everett De Roche. Since then Franklin has directed numerous features including Australian horror movies such as Patrick and Roadgames. He has also directed the sequel to Psycho, Psycho II. |
