Comments Mel Elliott was a manager of The New Gardenvale Theatre as well as The Mayfair Cinema, and also The Nepean Theatre. In 1953, Mel Elliott was brought The Mayfair Cinema into the partnership to manage and operate the theatre. He had started in the industry during the war as an assistant projectionist at a number of theatres in the north and west, beginning with the Western West Brunswick and later in other theatres linked to Frank Selleck. He was resourceful and interested in presenting the interior to best advantage. He was contacted in the industry to help to smooth over the budget problem of The Mayfair Cinema, and also arranged to borrow the anamorphic lenses for CinemaScope films from the Western West Brunswick.

Mel Elliott was played a significant role in managing The Mayfair Cinema; he did a lot of thing to help the cinema running better and smoothly. (Kylie Pui Yan Yeung)
