Comments |
This was considered the first Australian feature film musical. Very static camera direction, even croping heads at times!! Musical sequences were also a little bland, except for the opening chorusline dancers, which had good variety in shot composition (which was a little lacking throughout), and the ballet performance.

Synopsis |
Tommy is a local stagehand, who upon stumbling on a set, is brought into a state of unconsciousness. He dreams that he has been made king of Betonia and during his rulership, Tommy counters the stereotype of "royalty" by demanding all courtiers wear rollerskates (which he so kindly volunteers to teach) and even gambles with the footmen in a very comical card game scene. It is not until the rightful heir to the throne is discovered, that Tommy is found to be the fraud and disposed of his position. The dream ends and Tommy is brought back to reality....he's only a stagehand. |
