The independent film is interesting to say the least. The story is somewhat slow but picks up towards the middle of the movie when things start to get really frustrating for the protagonist. The budget for the film was quite small, so in working with this I believe it did pretty well for its time. The bland filming gives it a really naturalistic look, which makes it relatable and believable. Some scenes drag on quite a bit, therefore would say this is the films weakest element, since it doesn't hold the audiences attention constantly. The plot of the movie can be some what intrenching as you feel pity for the protagonist and he's situation. You want him to succeed but then get frustrated at the decisions he is making, wishing he had better judgment. The despair of the man makes for a good story and a thick plot, but of course there could have been more done with the story. I think for the time and the independent driven film it did pretty well, although it was a short movie and really did a lot for the time of 'The Carlton Scene' of the 1960s and 1970s. |
