The Journalist is not avaliable on video according to Moviefinder.com. This is not entirely accurate because I have just found a copy at Movieland located in East Brunswick.
Backed by the New South Wales Film Corporation of which Thornhill is a director, the script had a backing of $200,000 plus $100,000 from private investors. This is the third feature film of Thornhill and many were in fact confident that he would fair much better than his previous films like, Between Wars and the F.J. Holden. (Both of which had good critical reviews but didn't do well at the box office) Therefore given the talented casting and financial backing, it was unfortunate that The Journalist did not do well both commerically and critically. |
