Title The Willow Bend Mystery
Released 1982
Production Year 1981
Director Marcus Cole
Comments As a children's thriller, The Willow Bend Mystery has a suitably scary looking house in a suitably isolated location and Adrian is definitely suitably creepy looking. However, the dialogue is a bit stilted, Ian has only one facial expression and the sense of peril never really capitalises on the house or the situation. An O.K adventure for kids.
Synopsis Evil Adrian wins the heart of Linda, a lonely single mother. But Kay, her daughter is not impressed by Adrian's smooth appearance and his sinister attempts to win her over. It all comes to a head when Linda and Kay go to spend the weekend at Willow Bend, Adrian's isolated country mansion. There, Kay finds she is spied on by the sinister Bernard (a general labourer on the property). The two aunts seem to be hiding something and Adrian's son Ian is strangely silent. As Kay's mum is drawn deeper and deeper under Adrian's spell, it seems the key to everything is in the eyes. And we all know who's eyes they be!

The Willow Bend Mystery was shot on video and in a series format of 5 x 25min installments. The series was screened on the ABC in the 5.00pm children's timeslot in 1983 and repeated a year later. It sold well overseas, including to a Scandinavian home video company!
