Name Cate Blanchett
Comments Cate Blanchett admits to getting into acting “by default”, she was a graduate from NIDA in 1992 and subsequently commenced a stage career acting in Kafka’s ‘Dances’, and in Hamlett opposite Richard Roxborough. She has since appeared in “Oscar and Lucinda” and during 10 days off the shoot she managed fit in a starring role in “Thank God He Met Lizzie”. She has also appeared in Paradise Road and is married to script supervisor Andrew Upton.
She describes her criteria for choosing films as a proccess where “You want to know whose shooting it and whose directing it”, and relys on a “great sense of trust”. Rather than thinking about the roles she wants “I think about who I want to work with.
She is soon to star in a film with Geoffry Rush about Elizabeth I.
