Comments Marian Macgowan executive produced the feature film BLESSED directed by Ana Kokkinos and starring Frances O’Connor and Miranda Otto which was released in September 2009. In early 2008 she delivered the feature film DEATH DEFYING ACTS, an Australian/UK co-production directed by Gillian Armstrong, and starring Guy Pearce and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Marian is the producer of the Australian feature film SOUTH SOLITARY written and directed by Shirley Barrett and executive producer on the documentary BOXING FOR PALM ISLAND which will be broadcast on the ABC in late 2010.

Marian’s past films include LILIAN’S STORY, TWO HANDS, which won an AFI and Film Critic’s of Australia Award for Best Film in 1999, RISK, and RAGE IN PLACID LAKE which was nominated for 4 AFI Awards in 2003.

As well as running her own company, renamed MACGOWAN FILMS in 2000 (previously established in 1986 as CML FILMS PTY LTD), Marian’s other roles have included the production and publishing of Australian film industry bible, THE PRODUCTION BOOK and Head of Production at the Australian Film and Television School, where she subsequently worked as a consultant until mid 2008. Prior to forming CML FILMS PTY LTD, Marian worked both in the UK and Australia as a commercials producer and has directed several short films.
