Comments
A perceptive and empathetic article whereby the author recognises that the protagonists within 'The F.J. Holden' "are human beings, not social phenomena"(50)
Synopsis
Of central protagonists Anne and Kevin's relationship in the 'F.J. Holden', P. P. McGuinness states; "...The very sparseness of the detail of that relationship is the very esssence of the film - it is very much a matter of emotionally barren, but none the less real, contacts between suburban kids which reflects the materially rich but aimless mileu in which they live"(50).

McGuinness continues, stating; "it is tempting to describe...['The F.J. Holden'] as a documentary because of its very authenticity as a portrait of the Western suburbs of Sydney, as well as its cool lack of any "message".
