Title |
Myth and Archetype in Nicolas Roeg's Walkabout |

Comments |
Held divides Walkabout into separate sections, eg. "I - Fearful Symmetry: Order and Meaning", II - The Cosmic Tree: Iconography and Application (referring to Joseph Campbell's universal hero myth) etc.
I find it quite hard to get onto Held's wavelength, however the themes he identifies and Jungian/Freudian/Biblical etc. threads he draws are very intriguing.

Synopsis |
This is a lengthy essay on the "four archetypes which determine the structure of Walkabout. A very analytical/structuralist dissection of the film. Includes four pictures of all three characters. |
