The film adaption of William Shakespeare's romantic tragedy had its Australian premiere on Wednesday 22 December 1954 at the Grosvenor. The Hospital's Iuvives Auxiliary organised the premiere, therefore they also decorated the auditorium. Two Christmas trees were placed on each side of the screen. In the foyer nurses from St. Ives Hospital formed a guard of honor wearing uniforms.
