Mishra attempts to argue that "generic structures organize and pre-determine Aboriginal representations to a significant extent." The most productive area of the article is the recognition that "it is impossible for one "ideological fiction" one discourse of power , one system of thought to account for the heterogeneous nature of Aboriginal's people histories." Representations whether by non-Aboriginal or Aboriginal people are extremely complex , diverse , and sketched amongst a number of social , political , historical and personal experience positions. His filmic discussion of Jedda , The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith and Manganinnie make some interesting points in relation to degrees of authenticity in Indigneous representation. He brings critical discussion to areas of first person narration , cimematic intentionality , myth and memory used in the construction of these films. A useful article on the subject from both a cinematic and a literary perspective. The conclusion from Mudrooroo Narogln is worth a read as well. |
