Synopsis |
An in-depth look at Stanley Hawes: his concept of the goals of documentary film and his role as a producer and director in the Unit, which later became known as the Commonwealth Film Unit (CFU). It details how he shaped the thinking and practice of those that worked at the Unit and how the CFU subsequently played a role in the wider Australian film industry. It documents his correspondence with John Grierson and the difficulties he faces with the shifting political climate in Australia. |
