I liked the section that talks about films omitted from the Pike and Cooper book and the references to the film-making done by the Commonwealth Film Unit post-War-pre-1970s. |
Synopsis |
This is a book review of the 1998 revised edition of Australian Film 1900-1977 by Andrew Pike & Ross Cooper. While acknowledging the groundbreaking work of the original book (published in 1980), Turnour questions why the authors have not updated film entries or revised their 'canonical values of Australian Screen Studies'(90) as a result of further research done into Australian screen culture. |
