Comments Review identifies the aspects of the film which make it a success - and one of the better ones for it.
Synopsis This review begins by stressing the importance of the film's legal service team implying the interpretation of Chopper as 'a vicious killer, a sadistic bully, a foul-mouthed psycho exhibitionist' may be detrimental to Read's reputation.

Williams then goes on to dismiss this arguement claiming Chopper doesn't care about the way he is portrayed. Although Dominik's debut is described as 'brilliant', Bana's performance as 'astonishing' Williams remains weary about how appealing the film will be at the box office considering the nauseating violence.

Aesthetics (early-80's), humour (a black comedy - the blackest possible) and the omission of the attempted abduction of a Country Court judge are referred to as strengths of one of the 'best Australian films'.

The only small weakness identified by Williams is the script as some quieter moments could have been made more interesting.
