Most interviews have focused on Bana and this is the most thorough article on Dominik. Many articles have simply included snippets of Dominik's quotes. This is also the only article which has dealt with technique in some detail. |
Synopsis |
Interview with Dominik and brief review of Chopper described glowingly as a special event and so unique it is incomparable.
The interview with Dominik is relatively thorough covering technical effects (Dominik speaks little on this subject seemingly because he believes audience knowledge of specific techniques 'takes the mystery out [of it]'), his attraction to Mark Read, undergoing the transfer from advertising to film, the flatness of secondary characters (which works to create an existential Chopper, heightening his unpredictability) and his interest in violence.
This article is rare in that it provides an insight (albeit small) into Dominik's character. Although it is by no means exhaustive and reiterates standard information about the production which appears in almost every other article on the topic, it is more credible than most in that it approaches Dominik as a director rather than a spokesperson for Read.
