Title The Devil's Playground - Oft-told Aussie story fails to interest.
Author(s)William Arnold
Publication Date 29-01-1982
Comments A negative review of the film. William Arnold appears to be so anti the film and it's subject you begin to wonder why.
Synopsis Opens by discussing the idea that new Australian cinema is obsessed with the idea of restricted Victorian past and young characters rebelling.

Goes on to mention that The Devil's Playground has no interest or effectivess. Discusses briefly the repressive institution and sex and maturbation. Arnold believes that Schepisi's message is admirable enough but they way the whole film focuses on the one issue is boring.
