Comments |
The most successful of these are perhaps the ones where the aim is to merely observe children playing a game, eg. Time for Haike, Hide and Seek, Statues, Sardines in the Moonlight. Although simplistic in style, the importance of these films lies in the opportunity they provided for Tasmanian children to view their own familiar environments and the children in these environments taking part in familiar activities. |
Synopsis |
A series of short films set around the theme of children's games and filmed in Tasmania between 1968 and 1970 (excepting Petanque in New Caledonia and Mudcrab, Dolphin, Bulldog). Each film centres around a group of children playing or learning outdoor games. Bobby Hares (A Cautionary Tale) is the exception in that it is a narrative about the consequences of sliding down bannisters and contains fairly experiemental story telling techniques in comparison to the other short films.
The complete list is as follows: Time For Haike Statues (1968) Backdrop for a Play (1968) Bobby Hares (1970) Petanque in New Caledonia Hide and Seek Sardines in the Moonlight Mudcrab, Dolphin, Bulldog
