Title Don't Call Me Girlie: The True Story Of Australia's Movie Heroines On And Off The Screen
Comments The documentary is a good overview of women in Australian cinema and contains rare archival material which is otherwise extremely difficult to view.

The documentary's type of interviews vary depending on who is being interviewed; generally they have an anecdotal slant and are unfortunetly edited into small sequences. Most of what is revealed on camera is also avaliable in published books.
Synopsis An examination of Australia's hsitory of female film players, as well as the Australia's cinematic depiction of women. Covers Twelvetrees work in Australia, with breif footage of Twelvetrees civic reception and a segment of her speech, and the crowds. A brief excerpt of Throughbred is included, and Ken Hall is interviewed where he speaks of Twelvetrees' husband and child, where his insights can be found reiterated at a greater length in his biography.

Includes a discussion of Jocelyn Howarth as Cinesound's first big Australian star, and the publicity process that Cinesound employed.
