The Eros foundation is Australia's national assoociation for the adult industry, encompassing the full scope of the industry, from sex workers, to magazine publishers, to video retailers.
The Eros foundation was founded in 1992 by Fiona Patten , a lobbyist for the sex worker industry and Robbie Swan, a lobbyist for the Adult publishing industry (Publications and videos). When Ms Patten and Mr Swan met they realised they had the same objectives and the same opponents, thus the new lobby group, 'the Eros Foundation', was formed. This new group absorbed and took over the work of the Adult Video Industry Association.
The foundation was officially opened by Nina Hartley, American adult film actress, and anti censorship campaigner. At it's begginings, Eros had 90 trader members, a number which has since grow to 350 trader members and around 350 other members.
Eros has been behind several proposed changes to censorsip laws including the move to an NVE classification to replace X.
The Foundation publishes 'The Adult Industry Review' (formerly the 'Sex Files'), and is widely quoted in the media on adult industry matters.
