Name Michael Peterson
Birth Year 1952
Comments The most legendary, most mythologised Australian surfer ever.
An untouchable contest surfer in the 1970s and the surfer to take the 'best in the world' tag from Nat Young, the Queenslander won every major contest in Australia and for the three years from 1972-1974 won almost everything he entered.

The photo of his cutback in the Kirra sequence from Morning of the Earth is still one of the most reprinted in surfing, and one of the most talked about manouvers ever.
