Starting with Stephen Wallaceâs 1979 feature STIR, Edie has designed costumes for numerous feature films including: LOOK BOTH WAYS (written and directed by Sarah Watt); QUEEN OF HEARTS (directed by Danielle Maclean ); HORSEPLAY (directed by Stavros Kazantzidis); TEMPTED (directed by Bill Bennett & starring Burt Reynolds); IN A SAVAGE LAND (Bill Bennett); THANK GOD HE MET LIZZIE (Cherie Nowlan & starring Cate Blanchett, Richard Roxburgh and Frances OâConnor); MY MOTHER FRANK (Mark Lamprell); DEAD HEART (Nicholas Parsons); LILIANâS STORY (Jerzy Domaradzki); and BLACK RIVER (Kevin Lucas). Edie has received three Australian Film Institute Award nominations for LOOK BOTH WAYS (2005), IN A SAVAGE LAND (1999) and THANK GO HE MET LIZZIE (1997).
In addition to designing costumes on Shirley Barrettâs feature film SOUTH SOLITARY, Edie also designed MATCHING JACK directed by Nadia Tass which will be released later this year.
For television, Edie has designed the costumes for childrenâs TV series SNAKE TALES, the mini-series VIOLENT EARTH and telemovies ON THE DEAD SIDE, STREET ANGELS & HIS MASTERS GHOST.
In theatre Edie has worked with director Mike Leigh designing costumes for both his Royal Stratford Theatre (UK) & Belvoir Street productions of A GREEK TRAGEDY and designed set and costumes on Simon Phillipâs TWO BROTHERS at Melbourne Theatre Company, Neil Armfieldâs THE BLIND GIANT IS DANCING and TEETH âNâ SMILES at Company B, John Bellâs PERICLES, Stalker theatreâs recent production of INCOGNITA & CRYING BABY and Nigel Jamesonâs KELLYâS REPUBLIC, among others.
Edie has also taught fabric painting in the Arnhemland community of Ngukurr and tutored at the Australian Film Television and Radio School. She has travelled extensively for work & pleasure.
