Name Hui
Comments Born in 1947 in Anshan, Manchuria, Ann Hui received a Master's Degree in Comparative Literature from Hong Kong University before studying film making at the London Film School from 1973 to 1975. Returning to Hong Kong, Hui first worked as assistant to veteran director King Hu. She later joined HKTVB where she directed a number of outstanding short documentaries and one-hour drama series on 16mm including WONDERFUN (1975), C.I.D (1976) and SOCIAL WORKER (1977).

In 1979, Hui made her first feature film THE SECRET, a thriller starring Sylvia Chang. Her other films include THE SPOOKY BUNCH (1980), LOVE IN A FALLEN CITY (1984), ROMANCE OF BOOK AND SWORD (1987), PRINCESS FRAGRANCE (1987) and SONF OF EXILE (1990).
