The Redstone films production house was set up by the Axis mail order video group in February 1998 to produce Australian Adult film. Redstone's Producer and CEO is David Haines. Thus far Redstone has produced one feature film Buffy Down Under, and a compilation tape in conjunction with the magazine Australian Flesh called: Australian X rated Flesh on Video vol.1 . A second feature film is in post production and is expected to be ready for Christmas. The reason behind Redstone's existence is a move by Axis to break into the production market. According to David Haines , Axis is planning ahead for the time when copyright owners will stream products over the internet, therefore largely removing the distributor from the equation. Redstone is still in it's set-up phase, when it has a sufficient pool of actors to work with it expects to be producing on average one adult film per month, a feature film every eight weeks.
According to Mr Haines, Redstone is developing it's own style, which will reflect Australian scenery and Australian identity. It is hoped this will make Redstone's product more saleable overseas.
