Seward was the screen-writer for Cinesound's 1936 film 'Thoroughbred' and 'Orphan Of The Wilderness'. Imported as a Hollywod professional, Hall was not nessesarily impressed with Seward's work and much of Cinesound's scripts can generally be attributed to Hall's reworking. Edmond Seward was born in America in 1907. Early career aspirations were to apparently become an engineer. He wrote briefly for the 'Chicargo Herald Examiner' but entered the film industry 'filling assignments' for Walt Disney, Fox, Universal, Warner Bros. and Columbia. He worked on the scenarios of 'One Way Passage', 'Wax Museum', '42nd Street', 'Parachute Jumper', 'Picture Snatcher', 'Baby Face', 'Fashions Of 1934', 'Walls Of Gold' before he was recommended to Ken Hall by a well-respected Hollywood figure.
