Australian- born Weiley has been writing, directing, and producing for more than 20 years. He gained his early experiences at the ABC in Sydney as a specialist trainee in film technique. From their Weiley went on to Granada TV and BBC-TV in London to write, produce and direct many major documentaries and docudramas including "S.S. Lusitania" and "The Press We Deserve." His strong interest in the fields of science and technology was reflected in his programs for BBC-TV, "Tomorrow's World" and "Horizon". He has produced seven feature films including "Journey Among Women". Weiley was one of the architects of the renaissance of Australian filmmaking in the early 80's and was twice elected President of the Screen Production Association of Australia. In 1987, he established Heliograph Productions specifically to pursue his interest in the large screen film format. Prior to 'Antarctica', which is Australia's first IMAX film, Weiley directed Australia's first Showscan 70 mm films- "Celebrating Us" for Australia's Bicentennial Exhibition and "New South World" for Expo 88.
