Fiona Patten is the president of the Eros Foundation, the Adult industry's association and lobby group. Patten was born and raised in Canberra, but she spent some of her school years in Washington.
She studied fashion design, and in 1988 started her own house called Body Politics. After putting on a fashion parade for sex workers, she was invited to become the Executive officer for WISE (Workers In Sex Employment), a group set up to educate Canberra sex workers about AIDS.
In 1992, she joined forces with Robbie Swan, the lobbyist for the Adult Video Industry Association, and formed the Eros Foundation. In the same year she ran in the ACT elections, gaining the fourth highest individual vote in her area. This 'stunt' helped put the Eros Foundation on the map.
Since then, Patten has remained president of the Eros Foundation. She contributes to the Adult Industry Review (formerly the Sex Files), and is widely quoted in the media on matters to do with the sex industry.
