Emma-Kate Croghan was born in Adelaide in 1972. She entered the Victorian College of the Arts in 1990 at age 17, and whilst studying completed two short films, "Sexy Girls, Sexy Appliances" and "Desire". Croghan's first paying job after completing her degree was directing a video clip for INXS. Since then she has co-written and co-directed the documentary "Come as You Are" which was shown on ABC TV in May 1996. Her first feature film, "Love And Other Catastrophes" was released in 1996, and was a huge success for such a low-budget, quickly filmed product.
As of October 1998, Croghan was filming "Strange Planet" in Sydney (starring Claudia Karvan, Hugo Weaving, Naomi Watts and Alice Garner) and is also rumoured to be signed to direct the film version of "Scanner Darkly", a novel by Phillip K. Dick (who also wrote the novels that were eventually turned into "Blade Runner" and "Total Recall".) |
