Bio |
The Victorian Division of AFULE sold their premises that once housed the Loco theater in 11th Sept, 1985. The theater was built in 1914 by the Locomotive Drivers, Firemen and Cleaners Association, the forerunner of the Victorian Division of AFULE. In the early 1930s, Loco theater had closed the silent film era and converted to sound film.
In 1939, the loco theater rebuilt its internal facilities due to the problems of bad sound reproduction and it was renamed 'the Cinestar' in the later 1950s.
Around the mid 1970s, the Loco theater had been leased to a number of ethnic groups. The main theater hall and the meeting hall on second floor was used for different purposes of union meetings and social functions. Later in 1985, 11th sept, the Loco theater was sold and It is nowadays used for function organizing called Candelles Reception & Convention Centre.
