Interesting to explore John Hughes' impact on the American Film tradition. This article gave me some good historical contemporary perspectives as to the 1980's Teen Flick phenomenon.
Primarily it is a review of "Pretty In Pink" but it does delve into wider (American) film industry issues.
It is useful as a source of comparision to Australian films of a similar nature. |
| Synopsis |
Maslin praises Hughes' un-canny ability to depict and relate to teenage behaviour. She finds Hughes style to emanate a MTV aesthetic and notes his heavy reliance on light hearted humour.
According to Maslin, "Pretty In Pink" is a funny film about acting out against conformities.' |
