This book is not as current as one would like, but still provides some interesting takes on the role of stereotype in the film industry. |
| Synopsis |
Klapp distinguishes between the role of social types and the role of stereotypes in film. He articulates that for the most part it is from stereotypes that we get our ideas about social groups, and comments on how stereotypes in turn relate to the disposition of power within society. Stereotypes, Klapp says, are restricted to only a certain number of roles within film; whereas social types enjoy the full range, being capable of acting the "hero, the villain or the fool." |
