The film is approved in technical terms, but is still considered slightly inferior to films of percieved world standard. The 'country vs. city' theme in the film is critisied as being predictable, the plot is described as "hackneyed;....muddled and blurred", with commentary on the fantastic premises the story is dependant on. The horse is awarded acting honours, Twelvetrees is described as "charming", looking at home in the Australian surroundings.
