| Synopsis |
This review highly praises Twelvetreees placement in the film, claiming her presence is "more than justified by her lovely fluidity in screen technique. Her knowledge of camera, dialogue and timing are invaluable...The star's charm and sweetness are assets which need no emphasis". Compliments are also given to the remaining cast and it is suggested that Cinesound are helping create a stable database of local actors which will stabilise the nation's film industry.
There are critisms of the plot's incontinuity, stagnancy and transition between comedy and melodrama; this is attributed to alterations of the original screen-play.
The film is considered an advance for Australia's maturity, and while some of the techniques displayed "are far better than Hollywood can produce", the film's weaknesses do not allow it to be competitive internationally. Special mention is given to the editing, interior photography, make-up and use of rear-projection.
