Comments This essay, povides a broad insight into the movement, Rosselini looks beyond himself and his involvement which is benefitial. It seems that he spends the entire essay struggling to define what realism actually is and how a film achieves this degree of 'realism.' In this light is it a useful essay for understanding the basis for the movement.
Synopsis Rossilini provides a direct, apssionate overview of the neo-realist movement. He begins by stating "I'm a director, not an aesthete" he continues to explain what Neo-realism has done and where he stands within the movement.
