This article, printed in The Argus on August 10th 1956, although indirectly related to the Liberty for entertainment purposes, reveals the manager at the time as Mr. David Reade-Watts, whom we know was the managing owner from 1952 to 1970. Reade-Watts and his daughter who also worked at the Liberty, were threatened by a gun wielding thief who got away with nothing. The cinema was screening The Wild One when at 8:45 the burglar burst into Reade-Watts' office. |
