In this current high technology age. To open or take a cinema need a lot of courage as film industry is very depressed now in some small cinemas. People can stay at home watching their 50" TV or even on their iPad on the bed for the movies. I really admire Eddie Tamir who is not afraid to face difficulties abd courage to challenge competition. I hope he can success in his third cinema project! Good Luck |
| Synopsis |
Tamirâs take his third cinema project after opening the single-screen Classic in Elsternwick in 1997, followed by refurbishing the Cameo in Belgrave in 2004. He is in the midst of leading a careful restoration before re-opening it to the public in 2012 for the Hawthornâs Glenferrie Cinema.
TV, Recoder and DVD is replacing with the original movies in cinema.Nowadays people even can download the movies to their ipad instead go to the cinema.but cinemas have not only survived every technological bullet; they have thrived. Take the recent Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn release â in its opening weekend, the vampire flick took more than $12.2 million in Australia alone.
Tamir, a former filmmaker, says he entered the cinema business as a way to escape the transience of creative life. He admits that in hindsight this was, perhaps, âa bit gutless, because creative life is funâ.As he said the iPad is competition but it also promotes movies. |
