This link to Caarp provides researchers with some statistical data about the Cosmopolitan Theatre.
The Caarp Database was the starting point for research on the Cosmopolitan Theatre in Brunswick. It provides the public with useful data that is advantageous for anybody starting research on a theatre venue.
Not only does it provide necessary details of operation dates, addresses, references and what films theatres screened; but it is an easy way for new researchers to find information on their venue of choice. It has been quite difficult to find information on the Cosmopolitan Theatre, but with the references at the bottom on the page, it is able to point you in the right direction to gather more useful resources.
This website provided researchers with a background of the Cosmopolitan Theatre, and aided further research on Italian and Greek Cinema in the 1950âs and 1960âs.
In addition to this, it is interesting to see the films that were screened during the operation period. Majority of the films shown, were Greek; however, every Saturday at 7:30pm they presented the public with Italian films from Saturday 14th May, 1966 until the closing of the theatre.
As well as the information provided above, the Caarp Database offers information on the seating capacity of the Cosmopolitan Theatre. It was able to hold a maximum of 600 people. It is an interesting statistic, as many other theatres around the same time period were able to hold many more people, sometimes even double of what this theatre could hold. (Corene Innes)
