Comments I have had difficulties finding information about Barkly Theatre, so I was happy when I finally found the article about Barkly Theatre. However, it is about the renovation of Barkly theatre, which is not useful for my research proposal. The article says that Barkly Theatre became the place where drug addicts gather as a result of neglect for decades. They caused many drug related deaths, and the theatre dubbed ‘Theatre of broken dreams’. At that time, graffiti were on the wall. Developer, Alex Feldman bought the theatre in 2003. Then, he has successfully transformed the Barkly theatre into beautiful apartment. The apartment still has the feature of old Barkly theatre.

Although this article is not really useful for my research proposal, it is beneficial to know how the Barkly theatre was after it was closed. It is a pity that the theatre was neglected and became the place for drug addicts and the scene of crime. Although this article does not have the information for my research proposal, it makes me realized that how it is important to preserve the old theatre. By preserving them, we can review the cinema’s history and learn the difference between old theatre and present one. It is fruitful for students who are studying cinemas like us.
