Comments This was a paper on musicals prepared for the Australian Film institute.
Very useful, simple and brief.
Well summarised.
A good starting point.

Naturally it is easily available from the A.F.I........but because it is just a paper, it can be difficult to find among the excessive book section!
Synopsis This paper covers the historical development of the musical, looking at its rise, decline and the types of musicals that existed in the early period through to Hollywood's classical period. It goes on to speak about the musical's so-called 'golden era', focusing on Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire- both them as performers and their films.
