Perhaps in an attempt to bolster his/her comment that the story was incomprehensible, the reviewer of Lyndon Terracini's theatrical interpretation of Peter Weir's The Cars that Ate Paris (debuting at the 1995 Festival of Perth), chooses not to provide any diegetic account of the play whatsoever.

Synopsis |
The unnamed reviewer states that while the set was spectacular with "nigh on 100 decorated cars, piled on top of each other"(18) if you did not know the story-line of the original film, "...you had no change of working [the play] out"(18).
But, for those who did know the storyline the journalist states that "..Terracini's dialogue and lyrics were boring", however, s/he goes on to suggest that he should "..dispense with the dialogue, get the actors to mime... and it could work as a spectacular modern cult ballet"(18) |
