Useful in gaining an insight into the public announcement by the Government of the TFC sell-off. Accurate details of TFC debt. Pity there is no quote from anyone actually involved in the TFC, eg. John Honey. No comment either from any private Tasmanian production companies.

Synopsis |
The announcement regarding the sale of the Tasmanian Film Corporation was made in Parliament last night by the minister for Industry and Small Business, Mr Robson. The government is selling the TFC because the State can no longer afford it. The TFC has recorded a loss since its inception in 1977 and is nearing its ceiling of $2 000 000 on loan funds from the Government. Although the Government relies on the TFC to produce government films and the TFC staff are very talented and dedicated, the TFC will now be closed and sold to private investors.
